Penrhyn Castle, Gwynedd
A house which stood on the site of Penrhyn Castle was demolished to make way for the grand castle which has become the leading tourist attraction of North Wales. The house and garden are situated on the shore of the Menai Straits overlooking Anglesey and the gardens themselves are spectacular.
Penrhyn Castle is now owned by the National Trust.
