Conwy Castle
Built between 1283 and 1287, Edward 1st had Conwy Castle constructed in quite a plain design, on a major strategic point. It stands upon a rock that now seems to be part of the castle itself.
It has eight huge round towers connected by enormous curtain walls and offers breathtaking views from the battlements across the mountains and out to sea. Conwy also boasts a mile circuit of medieval walls guarded by 21 towers. It stands powerfully and dauntingly on the edge of the Conwy River an impressive representation of Edward's military strength.
