NEW FREE MENTORING SCHEME OPEN FOR BUSINESS IN NORTH WALES
HRH The Prince of Wales launched PRIME Cymru Mentoring Scheme for Anglesey, Conwy and Gwynedd On the 3rd day of The Prince of Wales annual summer tour of Wales His Royal Highness launched a new mentoring scheme for his charity PRIME Cymru
He visited Neuadd Lwyd, a five star country house bed and breakfast owned by former midwife Susannah Woods and her husband Dr Peter Woods. They started their business with support from the PRIME Cymru scheme which aims to help people of 50 and over who want to start a business or change direction in their lives.
After touring the house His Royal Highness officially launched the new PRIME Cymru Volunteer Mentor Project, which has been funded by the Welsh Assembly Governments Wales - The Active Community Scheme and Lloyds TSB Foundations.
In his speech His Royal Highness said “PRIME has recognised that we face, throughout the UK a very great problem that large numbers of older people are not able to find work? “I happen to believe that the experience and skills which people build up over a lifetime are an invaluable resource, and it is madness for society not to make use of this?
Following the successful launch PRIME Cymru now has a team of mentors available in North Wales who are able to provide one to one support to people of 50 and over in areas such as employment, business start up, developing an existing business and volunteering.
The project offers induction, training and ongoing support to mentors and mentees alike. Volunteer mentors are typically people who are willing and able to share their experience of business, volunteering and training with those aged 50 and over who need support and guidance. Mentees are people who feel that they would benefit from a learning relationship with a person who has positive experiences to share. The service provided is free of charge.
